Moving dry ice in Canada
Canada’s Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations list dry ice as UN1845, Class 9. Special provision 18 says the regulations, except Parts 1 and 2, do not apply to UN1845 carried by road or rail in packaging that lets the carbon dioxide gas escape, so pressure can’t build up. Air shipments follow separate carrier rules: Purolator, for example, requires vented packages marked with the net quantity of dry ice.
